Calabasas Property
Calabasas has all the elements of a rural town with the
conveniences of access to Los Angeles, the second most
populated city in the United States and home of many work
opportunities. The city of Calabasas was incorporated in
1991 and has around 20,000 residents according to the 2000
census. The small town and friendly feel of Calabasas
makes it a destination for many people in the Los Angeles
area.
Calabasas is located partly among hills and mountains,
which creates an incredibly serene setting for residents'
homes. From these peaks you can enjoy one of the most
fantastic views there is of the San Fernando Valley. You
can also take a stroll through downtown Calabasas that
will remind you of times long gone.
Calabasas is also a very friendly city. Every October, the
city hosts a pumpkin fest and invites people from around
the Greater Los Angeles Area to participate. Pie-eating
contests are held, as are pony rides, hay rides and
seed-spitting contests. The attraction of the pumpkin
festival brings many people into the city to support local
merchants and artists.
According to the 2000 census, there are 7,229 households
in Calabasas and 5,544 families. OF the over 20,000
residents, 86.92 percent are white, 1.18 percent are
African American, 7.71 percent are Asian and 2.71 percent
are Hispanic or Latino of any race. Out of the 7,229
households, 43.3 percent have children under 18 years of
age, 23.3 percent are non-families and 64.3 percent are
married couples living together. The average family size
is 3.14.
