Woodland Hills

Woodland Hills combines the relaxing atmosphere of a small
town with the high energy of big business. Woodland Hills
is within the city limits of Los Angeles, but you wouldn't
know it if you were there. The community is filled with
eucalyptus, sycamore and pine trees that create a feeling
of being away from it all.
Yet commuters have a short trip to the heart of downtown
Los Angeles. Los Angelinos would be hard pressed to find a
shorter commute into Los Angeles with the kind of quality
residences they find in Woodland Hills. Residents of
Woodland Hills have the best of both worlds.
Although Woodland Hills began as a bedroom community, a
place where residents lived but worked elsewhere, there is
now a viable business district in this community. The
Warner Center is home to many businesses, which give
residents the option to work close to home. In addition to
this, the community offers nice recreation areas, upscale
neighborhoods and lots of shopping and eating venues.
During the Great Depression, Woodland Hills, then known as
Girard, was hit hard and its population dwindled. The few
that remained worked to revitalize their community and
renamed it Woodland Hills as part of their revitalization
project. Soon after the depression, Harry Warner of Warner
Brothers Pictures bought 1,100 acres of land in Woodland
Hills that he intended to use to breed horses. Eventually,
in 1980, Warner sold the land, which became the business
district now known as Warner Center.
